When I read the blog of Australia’s Matt George, who also calls himself “Matt ‘Boy’ George”, I cannot help but wonder what ever happened to Boy George. He was the androgynous looking lead singer for the band Culture Club in the 1980’s. The bands songs “Do You Really Want to Hurt Me?” and “Karma Chameleon” were international hits and then George, like many musicians in the 198’s, became addicted to heroin and Culture Club wasn’t producing hit songs anymore. . George’s drug addiction, a band member’s overdose, and lukewarm album sales plunged Boy George into oblivion.

Overcoming his heroin addiction, Boy George began a solo career with modest success, writing the soundtrack for the movie The Crying Game.  His other endeavors included a weekly London radio show, a career as a DJ and a fashion line, B-Rude clothes. A few relatively minor legal problems hounded Boy George as he attempted to restart his music career. Fast forward to 203 and Boy George is slim and less flamboyant, perhaps attempting to go incognito with a baseball cap to cover his heavily tattooed head.

Does Matt “Boy” George resemble the original Boy George? His blog does not have a picture so we don’t know but we were shocked at the change in Boy George’s look. He looks good; manlier than before and the androgynous look is gone. He has also slimmed down, which is never easy when you are over age 50.
